Possibilities of using recycled concrete as fine aggregate replacement in cement screeds
Nováková, Iveta ; Brožovský,, jiří (referee) ; Hubáček, Adam (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with summary of knowledge about cement-based screed with partial replacement of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates. Special emphasis is given to describing and studying characteristics of cement-based flowscreed. In this study are described feedstocks with requirements which they must meet and test methods for testing properties of screeds. One part is also given to practical application of cement-based flowscreed with partial replacement of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates.
Study of durability of concrete with recycled concrete and brick
Voráč, Jiří ; Hela,, Vlastimil (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with issues of recycled concrete. The theoretical part describes the process of recycling the construction and demolition waste and describes requirements for recycled aggregate and recycled concrete in Czech republic and some of the member states of EU. The experimental part is focused on design of concrete with a substitution of coarse aggregate with a recycled concrete and brick aggregate.
A study of the possibilities of using recycled concrete in the UAE for the production of structural concrete
Lakomá, Karolína ; Novosad, Petr (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The thesis focuses on verifying the possibilities of utilizing recycled concrete aggregates originating from demolitions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in structural concretes for ready-mix concrete technologies. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge in the field of recycled concrete aggregates, their preparation, and production. It outlines the standard requirements for the UAE, the Czech Republic and globally. Additionally, it describes the influences of recycled aggregates on fresh and hardened concrete. The goal of the experimental section was to verify the resulting properties of natural and recycled aggregates. Moreover, the thesis addresses the formulation design for reference and recycled concretes. Tests for both fresh and hardened concrete were conducted based on these formulations. This work compares the achieved results with those obtained in another study from the Czech Republic which is also focused on the use of recycled concrete. Furthermore, an economic analysis comparing the prices of reference and recycled concretes on 1 m3 is conducted within the experimental section.
The possibility of using recycled concrete for the production of structural concrete
Pijáčková, Erika ; Křížová, Klára (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of recycled concrete aggregate and its use in the field of structural concrete. The aim of the work was to describe the possibility of complete or partial replacement of natural aggregates with recycled concrete aggregates for concretes of strength classes C16/20 to C30/37. The theoretical part is composed of findings from both domestic and foreign research and legislation, which were used to evaluate the possibility of more frequent use of recycled concrete aggregates in civil engineering in the Czech Republic. The experimental part consists of the design of concrete recipes with natural and concrete recycled aggregates and their economic evaluation.
Optimization of recycled concrete materials from precast concrete elements and their characteristics for building information model
Venkrbec, Václav ; Mésároš,, Peter (referee) ; Šuhajda, Karel (referee) ; Henková, Svatava (advisor)
The dissertation thesis deals with the use of recycled concrete aggregates obtained from deconstructed parts of a precast panels’ apartment building. Furthermore, the work presents an optimization supplier-logistics algorithm to achieve a wider application of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) in structural concrete in a new building. As part of the newly developed optimization algorithm of ready-mixed concrete suppliers, non-graphical data from the building information model (BIM) were intensively used. The work also addresses the transfer of data from and back to the information model and the definition of characteristics needed to optimize the entire process. At the theoretical level, the work deals with a comprehensive literature review of the above-mentioned fields. The experimental part of the work is focused on materials research carried out in order to verify the suitability of a particular type of RAC for structural use. The work introduces the procedures and test results of two types of recycled aggregates and then presents a range of recycled concrete recipes with partial replacement of aggregates for RCAs, obtained from prefabricated panels of high-rise buildings. The gained test results show the technical suitability of the tested RCA sources for producing medium-strength structural RAC. A significant part of the analytically oriented experimental part of the work is the logistic optimization scenario with its own matrix-based discrete algorithm and economic graphical evaluation. The case study examines the relevance of the proposed algorithm on a real scenario, namely the construction of the scientific technology institute CEITEC in Brno. Furthermore, the work summarizes the issue of BIM and presents a methodology for handling non-graphical information of the building model to define the characteristics of recycled concrete in buildings. The conclusions are addressed both for practice and for the development of scientific disciplines. The work provides
Change in the durability of concrete made of recycled concrete by alternative addition of ceramic admixtures
Stavař, Tomáš ; Hoffmann, Oldřich (referee) ; Stehlík, Michal (advisor)
The master thesis dealing with problematic about durability of concrete, with use of recycled concrete and addition of silica additions. Predominant for resistance of concrete constructions is surface layer, through which aggressive gasses and liquids penetrate from surrounding environment. The most important indicator of concrete durability is ability of surface layer transmissions of aggressive substants. In experimental part will be defined the actual state of surface layer by normal testing methods. The transmissions of surface layer will be tested on concrete cubes. Tests for transmissions of air (method TORRENT), of water (method ISAT), of acid gases (dept of carbonation by quick test in 98% CO2) will be carried out and also strength tests. Assessment of positive or negative influence of additions and amount of cement on durability and mechanical properties of concrete will be discussed in conclusion.
Study of the possibilities of using coarse aggregates from recycled concrete for the production of structural concrete
Voráč, Jiří ; Novosad, Petr (referee) ; Hela, Rudolf (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on the possibilities of using coarse recycled concrete aggregate as a substitution for coarse natural aggregate in structural concrete. Theoretical part of this thesis presents a literature review on the recycled concrete aggregate, mainly its production and use in structural concrete. Emphasis is placed on standards in Czech Republic, Europe and other countries of the world. Influence of recycled concrete aggregate on fresh and hardened concrete are also described. Experimental part is dedicated to determination of basic mechanical properties of recycled concrete aggregate and natural aggregate. Recycled concrete formulas and reference concrete formulas are also proposed. Proposed concrete mixes are subjected to tests for fresh and hardened concrete. The price of concrete mixes per 1 m3 is also described.
